Enamelled mourning medallion made of gold with diamonds, around 1880
    description
This sentimental pendant, a medallion, is intended to keep the memory of a loved one alive. All of its details are geared towards this purpose, from its color, the motif to its shape. We see a cross made of small diamond roses on the front cover of the medallion. Finely set in light silver frames, it seems to float in front of the deep black enameled background of enamel. The color of the email is of course meant to speak: It is the color of mourning that wants to remind us of a person who has gone to God. Well protected by the cross and religion, the person whose image we can find within is probably waiting in heaven. The beautiful, well-preserved pendant was made in the 1880s. Century. At that time, the range of mourning jewelry was strictly limited to the color black.

    about us
    Hofer antique jewelry
arose from the joy of beautiful things. It all started with my grandma, who was a lady who liked to adorn herself. She could tell something about each of her pieces of jewelery and when she opened her jewelery box, a world opened up: fond memories and touching stories connected with the pieces marked the highlights of a lived life. Based on these experiences, over the years a passion grew in me to deal with these small and always very personal objects.
