    Description

Tiger Maple Frame w/ Antique Finish by Rob Sykes
    Sykes #190424 Frame
I am a cabinetmaker in Southeast Penna. [Philly. area], when I have slow or down time or between projects, I design build or restore. I have made a production run of about six of these new frames of this approximate size.
Frame is finished with four coats of traditional shellac and buffed out with an antique finish dark brown wax give it an aged look.
Frame glass is poured with bubbles and waves.
Glass is approximately 150 to 170 years.
Glass has minor age blemishes but is very much usable and would be considered in good condition.
Change out the glass and it would make a great small mirror.
The majority of my work is Design-Build and bench made one at a time [one of a kind designs].  I strive to use solid wood in construction in my work and only occasionally use high quality plywood where deemed it would outperform a natural wood species, I hate pressboard, and MDF type products and you will never find them in any of my work.  Finishes are applied by hand and often involve time consuming multistep processes to achieve an antique, vintage or worn appearance.  The
cabinets and furniture I build are made from mostly reclaimed wood.  While my work is design-build in the traditional style, the use of the reclaimed wood gives the piece an original worn appearance without beating up the piece to make it look old.  When using reclaimed wood, there will be imperfections knots-knot holes, nail holes, scratches, dings and dents. Those imperfections are what make each piece stand out on its own from the next.
If you’re tired of cheap pressboard and plastic imports that might look good at first but only last only a few years take a look at this all-American custom bench made looking glass.
This is a solid wood piece - and the best part is if you get tired of it is you will most probably be able to sell it for as much or more at a later date…
