    In 1967, the Kazan optical and mechanical plant (KOMZ) began production of a small-sized narrow-film film camera Ekran-4. The camera was designed for 2x8 mm. film (16 mm. film) with a length of 10 m. (7.5 m. after cutting the illuminated ends) on a standard reel. The film was exposed in two passes and after development was cut along the center line into two parts. A distinctive feature of the camera is a rotating turret with three lenses. The main regular lens "Saturn-6" 1,8/12,5. And the other two had afocal attachments of 0.5 and 2 diopters and allowed shooting with different capture angles. There was no sharpness guidance. The lens provided a sharpness of the frame from 1 m to infinity. Shot frequency of 8, 16, 24, 48 frames/sec. and time-lapse photography. The camera drive is spring-loaded. One plant was enough for 2 m. broaching the film. The meter showed the rest of the film.
    Yellow and gray light filters were also built into the camera
    , which were selected by turning the ribbed wheel on the left side of the camera. There was also a film sensitivity setting ring and a diaphragm ring duplicated with the same on the right side. The aperture setting is semi-automatic according to the arrow of the built-in exposure meter in the field of view.
