    Description

THE COLLECTOR’S GUIDE AND HISTORY OF GONDER POTTERY
by Ron Hoopes, L-W Book Sales, Gas City, IN, 1992.
The profuse color and black-and-white photographs coupled with concisely rich narrative make this early out-of-print book an invaluable resource reference work.
This identification and value guide fills a gap, being the first such book to treat of Gonder pottery, which manufactured decorative and utilitarian pottery wares from 1941 until 1957.  Explanatory text is also provided, and of special interest is the grouping of wares according to glazes used:  gold crackle, mother of pearl, coral, ebony green and others that the company developed with pride.  95 full color plates show several hundred items and these pieces include vases, lamp bases, figurines, cookie jars, serving dishes, pitchers and much more.  This book includes a discussion of marks and a price and value guide good for the early 1990’s.  If you are a collector of Gonder pottery, this book is a “must” for your reference library.  It will appeal to anyone interested in mid-20th century American pottery, especially “the Other” pottery made in Zanesville, Ohio.
5.5” x 8.5” softback in very good condition.  125 pages.
