Description
Circular Shellwork Valentine Circa 1841This valentine has a shaped and reeded frame surrounding an assortment of cream-colored, beige and pink shells arranged in eight sections radiating from a central floral rosette. The reverse has an old price list and label from framing supplier Baron Nastgowsky of Cheapside, England. Initials “HC”, and date of 1841 in the shellwork. Frame measures 11” in diameter and the valentine is in excellent condition. Provenance: Northeast Auctions 8/2003.
