Antique BLACK METAL COLONIAL CHOKER PENDANT Hinged With Eyelet MYSTERIOUS ITEM!

An EXTREMELY UNIQUE ONE OF A KIND ANTIQUE PIECE OF JEWELRY!!! Black METAL HINGED PENDANT BUST WITH EYELET For CHOKER. Have never seen anything like it before! Did extensive research and found nothing about it. The metal is pretty heavy, so I don’t believe it is aluminum or tin. But, it’s definitely metal. I can smell it. Kind of smells like COPPER - but I could easily be wrong. Came from a REPUTABLE VINTAGE JEWELRY AUCTION where it was described as “COLONIAL PENDANT BUST”. Has two twin FEMALE BUSTS with flowing hair and a LILY in between them. The lily covers up a HINGE in the middle which causes the two heads to move/close inward. At the top of the lily is an EYELET ring which looks like a small chain could has been strung through it. On the back, however, are two open bars that look like they are meant to have a strip of FABRIC (a CHOKER) threaded through them. This would explain the hinge, which would bend if wrapped around the neck to conform to its curves. So, I’m thinking this is a MULTI- PURPOSE PIECE meant to be a necklace pendant or a choker pendant/charm. These are guesses only. I am not an antique jewelry expert.
