With a swing into the new century
Dynamic Art Nouveau toi-et-moi ring with old European cut diamonds, around 1905
    description
Art Nouveau, which conquered the world around 1900, wanted to break with old ornament and find something new. One of the characteristic style elements of this new style was the so-called. Whip lash ornament: Inward and outward swinging lines that look like flying whips. The nickname came from a wall hanging by Hermann Obrist from 1895, which actually showed cyclamen violets embroidered in gold on a green-blue background (cf. last picture). The lines of this violet were so dynamic and abstract, however, that an enthusiastic review from the modern art magazine "Pan" announced: "This frenzied movement appears to us like the sudden, violent turns of the cord when a whip is cracked." The present ring isolates this swinging whiplash line and makes it the design element of the ring. The two ends of the ring rail swing out in the manner described, each winding around an old European cut diamond. At the broad points of the lines and in the middle of the connecting rhombus there is another diamond: These three stones are in the old Peruzi cut of the 18th century. Century and probably came from an heirloom to decorate here in a second use. The entire front of the ring shines in a layer of white platinum, while the ring itself is forged from gold. The ring is in very good condition and is a fine example of art nouveau jewelry with a reduced design.

    about us
    Hofer antique jewelry
arose from the joy of beautiful things. It all started with my grandma, who was a lady who liked to adorn herself. She could tell something about each of her pieces of jewelery and when she opened her jewelery box, a world opened up: fond memories and touching stories connected with the pieces marked the highlights of a lived life. Based on these experiences, over the years a passion grew in me to deal with these small and always very personal objects.
