An auction house in 2012 sold one for 0 and the minute hand did not move and the reverse was well worn.
This watch winds and runs great!
All original so it is worn but in great shape for 1930. There is a very small impression just above center on the backside of the watch.
2" dia. with original crystal plus large movable loop at top. Dial shows small building representing his base camp Little America on the Ross Ice Shelf while overhead flies the plane he used to fly over the South Pole in 1929.
This reads at the top "Trail Blazer" and at the bottom "Commemorating Byrd's Antarctic Expedition." Pictured in small but exacting detail is his portrait surrounded by a fur parka set against a world globe flanked by a pair of flags. At the left background is his ship City of New York while at the right is the base camp with several buildings and pair of tall radio antennas which were used to communicate with the outside world during the expedition. Overhead flies the plane he used to fly over the pole in 1929.
I do not ship outside of the continental USA.
